How GOD'S GREATEST GIFT came to be . . .
|
|
Work on God's Greatest Gift was begun by Bernadette Wilson in 1982. As a volunteer catechist, she saw the need to provide a more positive, enjoyable experience for the children she was preparing for First Communion. So it wasn't long before she set about producing her own worksheets and resource materials to supplement the existing programme. In 1988 she collected all her materials into one book and, with a loan from her understanding bank manager, published on her own the first copies of God's Greatest Gift. The programme was piloted in St. Mellitus parish, Tollington Park, North London, and in St Francis parish, Stratford, East London. In 1993 ViewPoint Resources Direct took over the publication and sales of the programme, completely re-editing the Children's Workbook and adding a Cathechist's Guide, Parent's Guide, Art Resouce Book and other complimentary publications. Work is currently underway on further resources for the programme.
